NYPD detectives are investigating the grisly discovery of a woman’s armless and legless body in a Brooklyn park Monday evening.
A woman walking her dog in Brooklyn park made the gruesome discovery about 6 p.m., according to the authorities. The body was 15 feet off the edge of the pedestrian path where she was walking. NBC New York reported.
It’s not known how the woman’s body ended up there, or if she was the victim of some violence. Crime scene detectives were spotted at the scene.
Community activist Tony Herbert said he thinks the woman’s body must have been dumped there recently, saying that “it’s a very active park.”
“This legless body couldn’t have been here that long,” he added.
The whereabouts of the woman’s appendages are also unclear.
The NYPD is investigating possible homicide case, and Chopper 4 footage from over the scene shows several detectives around the scene.
A medical examiner will determine the woman’s identity and cause of death.
