A police chase of a stolen Audi suspect ended in the Bellflower area after police successfully performed a PIT maneuver Tuesday morning.
Orange County Police began the pursuit of the stolen Audi sedan just about 10 a.m. The police chase went from the 405 Freeway in Costa Mesa, Orange County to the 73 Freeway, then back to the 405 North and the 605 North Freeways. ABC7 reported.
Somewhere along the way, a passenger reportedly got out of the vehicle. It was unclear if that suspect had been arrested and taken into custody.
Police unsuccessfully tried to pin the motorist involved in the chase, but the car thief continued to flee for about an hour. The chase traveled on the southbound 5 Freeway after the suspect was on surface streets for a short time in the Santa Fe Springs area and city of Downey.
When the chase got into Bellflower, officers performed a PIT maneuver on Clark Avenue. The car thief eventually exited the Audi after refusing commands at first. He was arrested taken into custody without further incident at about 11:25 a.m.
The Audi thief’s name has not been released.
